Heirlooms
This act seemingly appeared out of nowhere when their self titled Ep came out in August of last year. Originally started as a solo project by Jesse Stanford, the singer/songwiter; he spent almost a year composing the songs. He was soon joined by past band mate Neal Spencer, who added insight and fleshed out the material with percussion. Before long, they were joined by Thomas Servidone, Justin Kearney, Brendan Cox and finally violinist Ciara Cohen to form the band that was obviously much more in scope than Stanford had imagined. Their CD was immediately accepted by critics; landing on Eric Danton’s Hartford Courant Best of 2010 list.
Their songs are part confessional, part musical folk tale as the band mixes subtle acoustic textures with soaring electric feedback, driving rhythm, ethereal strings and a whole bunch of raw emotion to make a neo-folk stew that is very tasty indeed.
Experience Heirlooms on The Jeff Crooms Welcome Stage on Sunday May 1- from 2:45-3:30.
