ROPE

  Rope is a deep dark mystery. Rope is an enigma. Pulsing, slowly surging, their sparse instrumentation needs little ornamentation- it is at once simple and complex. Sal Paradise sings with a dark intensity as he wrenches intense sounds from his guitar as bassist Dave Hurd and drummer Pat Quinn keep the bottom strong. Strong and twisted is what Rope is, and last year they played an early set that impressed us so much we asked them back  on the spot. So this year, Rope plays on The Bandshell Stage on Saturday, immediately following The Animals (Pat and Dave play with Animal Hilton Valentine in a Connecticut band called Skiffledog), from 6:45pm.
